Our design process fully considers the installation and maintenance practicalities on site.Due to our continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Principal Structural Engineer, ideally with extensive years of working experience in design and analysis of building structures from concept through to construction in various sectors particularly the technology/data centre industry and to work as part of a team on technically challenging projects.ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESManage a design team to ensure successful preparation and delivery on project objectives and work collaboratively with other disciplinesLead on engineering quality – develop designs and drawings to the required technical quality of work, ensuring that they comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and ProceduresResponsible for monitoring budgets and controlling expenditure to meet financial targets for own areasRepresents the company both internally and externallyDay to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with and provides advice to clientMay in addition be responsible for one or more of the following:Predicting and planning future resources, which may include setting up new projects and project plansThe performance and development of others, providing guidance, training, motivational and directional feedbackResponsible for setting and meeting agreed deadlinesAuthors documents such as letters and reports (for internal or external use)Allocates tasks and coordinates activitiesJOB REQUIREMENTSBachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or have sufficient equivalent experienceAt least 15 years working experience in different stages of building design from concept through to constructionA collaborative team player, with good communication skills, who is happy to share their knowledge with those around them and always be open to learning and developing themselves professionally and personallyRelevant experience in structural analysis and design, using the latest tools and softwareGood understanding of EurocodesAbility to work in an evolving market where new technologies can be embracedSignificant experience in the design of buildings in various sectors particularly the technology/data centre industrySound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and current legislationConsideration of sustainability in the development of designsGETTING RESULTS AND WORKING TOGETHERThe post holder will be expected to operate in line with our workplace values:ACCOUNTABILITY > Everyone is accountable.INTEGRITY > We are straight talking, respectful and fair.SIMPLICITY > Both in our approach and solutions.SUPPORTIVE > We are approachable, inclusive and recognise success.QUALITY > We strive to get it right first time, every time.
