About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and licensed Head Underwriter to join our team. This is a full-time role based in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, Metro Manila. As our Head Underwriter, you will play a key strategic role in assessing and managing the insurance risks for our business, ensuring the profitability and sustainability of our operations.

What you'll be doing:

  1. Lead the underwriting team in evaluating and pricing insurance policies to ensure they meet the company's risk appetite and profitability targets
  2. Develop and implement underwriting strategies, policies, and guidelines to maintain the overall health of the insurance portfolio
  3. Analyse and interpret complex financial and actuarial data to make well-informed underwriting decisions
  4. Collaborate with the sales, claims, and actuarial teams to share insights and improve underwriting practices
  5. Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, trends, and best practices to ensure the company's compliance and competitiveness
  6. Mentor and train junior underwriters to develop their skills and expertise
  7. Contribute to the organisation's overall risk management and strategic planning initiatives

What we're looking for:

  1. 8+ years of relevant underwriting experience, preferably in the insurance & superannuation industry
  2. A valid and up-to-date underwriting license
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data
  4. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  5. A proven track record of developing and implementing successful underwriting strategies
  6. Experience in leading and mentoring a team of underwriting professionals
  7. Familiarity with industry regulations, trends, and best practices
