Our company is looking for a full time Finance/Bookkeeping person.
Responsibilities
- Transaction recording: Accurately record daily financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
- Account reconciliation: Perform bank and credit card reconciliations on a regular basis to ensure the company's financial records match its bank statements.
- Accounts payable and receivable: Manage invoices and bills, track payments, and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Financial reporting: Generate basic financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to provide a snapshot of the company's financial health.
- Budgeting support: Assist with budget preparation, track expenses against the budget, and report variances to management.
- File management: Maintain and organize financial documents and records in a systematic way for easy retrieval.
Skills and qualifications
- Attention to detail: Bookkeepers must be meticulous and thorough to ensure the accuracy of financial records and catch errors.
- Computer proficiency: Strong skills in bookkeeping software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero), spreadsheets (e.g., Microsoft Excel), and other financial applications are essential.
- Basic accounting knowledge: A solid grasp of fundamental accounting principles is necessary for proper record-keeping.
- Organizational skills: The ability to manage multiple financial tasks, records, and deadlines is crucial for keeping a company's finances in order.
- Communication: Effective communication skills are needed to interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams to resolve financial discrepancies.
- Integrity and discretion: As bookkeepers handle sensitive financial information, honesty and the ability to maintain confidentiality are vital.
- Education and experience: While requirements vary, a high school diploma is typically the minimum, and many employers prefer candidates with an associate's degree in accounting or a related field. Many roles also require two or more years of experience.
