Sous Chef – Hotel Kitchen
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Sous Chef with previous experience working in a hotel kitchen or similar high-volume environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, dependable under pressure, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food quality, and kitchen efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations
- Supervise and support line cooks and prep staff to ensure consistency and quality
- Oversee food preparation and presentation for à la carte, room service, and banquet menus
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety standards (HACCP)
- Monitor inventory, place orders, and reduce food waste
- Help train and mentor junior kitchen staff
- Ensure smooth service during peak hours and coordinate with front-of-house teams
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook in a hotel or high-volume kitchen
- Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment
- Experience with banquet and buffet service is highly preferred
- Leadership and communication skills to manage and motivate kitchen staff
- Culinary diploma or formal training is an asset
- ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety knowledge
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
