Sous Chef – Hotel Kitchen

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Sous Chef with previous experience working in a hotel kitchen or similar high-volume environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, dependable under pressure, and committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food quality, and kitchen efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations
  • Supervise and support line cooks and prep staff to ensure consistency and quality
  • Oversee food preparation and presentation for à la carte, room service, and banquet menus
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety standards (HACCP)
  • Monitor inventory, place orders, and reduce food waste
  • Help train and mentor junior kitchen staff
  • Ensure smooth service during peak hours and coordinate with front-of-house teams

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook in a hotel or high-volume kitchen
  • Strong understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment
  • Experience with banquet and buffet service is highly preferred
  • Leadership and communication skills to manage and motivate kitchen staff
  • Culinary diploma or formal training is an asset
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety knowledge
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
