About the role:
The position is responsible for managing the engineering portfolio, oversee the underwriting team, ensuring that they understand expectations and delivery timelines in taking acceptable risk or business for driving profitability within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, evaluate and make underwriting decisions in line with the underwriting guidelines and recommendations
- Review, evaluate and report on loss activity
- Establish appropriate internal underwriting procedures and criteria to control risk
- Oversee the development of the company's underwriting systems
- Evaluating and receiving submission from Marketing Department for review
- Submission with reinsurance, inward and outward
- Assist in treaty renewal
- Designing and producing useful, accurate and detailed management information
- Liaise with brokers, underwriters and other intermediaries to understand detailed clauses within contracts and develop innovative procedures in Underwriting
- Meet and negotiate with clients and brokers to build relationships and to develop new and renewal business
- Meeting with other department, intermediaries and agents
- Visitation with intermediaries, RI, Agents/brokers
- Involved in conducting programs such as Small Legion Products in collaboration with Marketing
- Establishing professional relationships with internal and external clients
- Manage, train and appraise junior members of staff to enhance the underwriting skills within the underwriting team
- Manage relationships/agreements with customers, internal and external
- Respond to escalated queries/concerns from customers, internal and external
- Communicate with customers, other parties on sensitive matters in a timely and effective manner
- Plan and allocate resources to effectively staff and accomplish the work to meet departmental productivity and quality goals
Qualifications:
- Graduate of any Bachelor's Degree
- More than 2 years relevant work experience in Underwriting and Risk Management
- High Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to analyze processes information, identify problems and develop effective solutions and strategies
- Background in Non-life Insurance, end-premium, Underwriting profit and Risk Management
