This role oversees key accounting functions such as general ledger management, financial statement preparation, monthly closings, and audit coordination. It is also responsible for implementing and monitoring internal controls, supporting budget and forecast processes, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and statutory requirements. The role supervises the finance and accounting team and coordinates closely with other departments to align financial data with operational activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Accounting Operations and Process Improvement

  • Oversee core accounting functions including, but not limited to, month-end and year-end closing, accounts payable and receivable, bookkeeping and general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, treasury management, fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany transactions
  • Streamline accounting processes and systems to improve efficiency, accuracy and reliability of accounting operations
  • Manage the updated documentation of processes and workflows

Financial Reporting, Planning and Analysis

  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including ad-hoc reports
  • Manage the preparation of financial statements in compliance with local regulations and accounting standards (e.g., PFRS/IFRS)
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting, and monitor budget performance (e.g., variance analysis)
  • Identify opportunities for budget/cost control and pursue implementation

Audit and Compliance

  • Coordinate audits (internal and external) and ensure timely resolution of findings, if any
  • Manage compliance with tax laws and other statutory requirements
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and efficient accounting procedures to ensure integrity and accuracy of financial records

Team Support and Management

  • Supervise and support the accounting team's daily operations by providing guidance in the accurate and efficient execution of financial processes
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and feedback to improve work delivery
  • Identify skills gap, training needs and craft development plans to enhance team competency and performance
