About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Loan Underwriter to evaluate and approve loan applications while ensuring compliance with lending policies. You will analyze financial data, assess risk, and make informed credit decisions—playing a key role in balancing client needs with the company's risk tolerance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and approve/deny loan applications based on financial analysis, creditworthiness, and lending criteria.
  • Conduct risk assessments, including review of income, debt-to-income (DTI) ratios, collateral, and credit history.
  • Ensure loans adhere to regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
  • Oversee the end-to-end loan process (application to disbursement), maintaining efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to streamline approvals while mitigating risk.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and underwriting best practices.
  • Occasionally provide customer support to clarify underwriting decisions or document requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • Proven underwriting experience in banking, fin-tech, or lending.

  • Strong knowledge of:

  • o Financial statements analysis

  • o Credit risk assessment

  • o Lending regulations (e.g., Fair Lending, Dodd-Frank)

  • Proficiency in underwriting software/tools (e.g., Moody's, Loan Origination Systems).

  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work remotely and prioritize multiple applications.
