Production Consultant – Furniture Manufacturing

A furniture manufacturing company is looking for an efficient and experienced Production Consultant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess existing production processes, systems, and layouts in the factory or workshop.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase productivity, reduce waste, and optimize costs.
  • Develop or refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production, finishing, and quality control.
  • Advise on appropriate materials, joinery methods, and finishes to enhance product quality and durability.
  • Provide technical training and guidance to production staff and supervisors.
  • Evaluate equipment and machinery performance; recommend upgrades or maintenance schedules.
  • Work with the design and engineering teams to ensure manufacturability of new furniture designs.
  • Support production planning to meet delivery timelines and resource allocation.
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in the workshop.
  • Prepare progress reports and present findings, cost-saving proposals, or operational improvement plans to management.
  • Recommend sourcing strategies for materials or components to reduce lead time and cost.
  • Advise management on technology trends and innovations in furniture production (e.g., CNC machinery, sustainable materials).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Furniture Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in furniture production, manufacturing, or woodworking operations.
  • Proven expertise in production planning, process optimization, and quality control.
  • Strong knowledge of furniture manufacturing techniques (wood, metal, upholstery, finishing, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities to coordinate across departments.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems, lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma principles is an advantage.
