Power Engineer

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Must have experience in telecom industry/power operations.
  • Must be willing to travel and be available for field support when required.
  • Must have own laptop and be ready to join immediately or within 2 weeks

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems (DG sets, transformers, batteries, UPS, solar, hybrid).
  • Hands-on experience with rectifiers, power meters, and remote monitoring systems (RMS).
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and provide quick solutions.
  • Good understanding of energy efficiency practices and cost optimization.
  • Strong vendor management and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and reporting tools.

Job Responsibilities & Key Result Areas (KRAs)

Operations & Maintenance:

  • Ensure 24x7 availability of reliable power supply to telecom sites.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of power systems (DG sets, rectifiers, SMPS, batteries, solar, hybrid power systems, etc.).
  • Monitor and maintain site uptime as per Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve power-related outages within defined MTTR (Mean Time to Repair).

Energy Management:

  • Optimize fuel consumption and energy costs across sites.
  • Monitor DG efficiency, fuel reconciliation, and prevent pilferage.
  • Support implementation of energy-saving initiatives (hybrid systems, solar integration, lithium-ion batteries, etc.).
  • Track and report site-wise power consumption, fuel usage, and efficiency KPIs.
  • New Site Energization , with the help of cooperative.

Technical Support & Compliance:

  • Conduct site audits to ensure safety, compliance, and system reliability.
  • Coordinate with vendors for spare parts, AMCs, and equipment upgrades.
  • Provide technical support during new site rollout, power equipment installation, and commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, energy regulations, and HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Maintain updated records of site power equipment, capacities, and maintenance schedules.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly power performance reports (uptime, fuel, efficiency, outages).
  • Support management with data analysis for decision-making.

About iSON Tower

We provide tower sharing services to mobile operators through our in-house integrated design and engineering, procurement, construction and project management skills in the Telecom domain. Along with tower sharing services to MNOs through Build-to-Suit (BTS) towers and Buy-and-Lease-Back (BLB) of tower assets, we also undertake long term annuity contracts such as Managed Services for Mobile Network Operators. Long Term contracts with MNOs allows us to focus on long term benefits, process re-engineering and thereby, add value to our clients and achieve optimum utilization of telecom resources.
