Job Summary

  • The Research and Development (R&D) Officer will play a key role in driving product innovation and improvement initiatives within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector. This position is responsible for developing new products, enhancing existing formulations, and ensuring all products meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in food science, product development, and market-oriented innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Development: Conceptualize, formulate, and develop new products aligned with market trends, consumer needs, and company objectives.
  • Innovation & Improvement: Enhance existing product lines by improving quality, cost-efficiency, shelf life, and sensory attributes.
  • Research & Testing: Conduct laboratory experiments, shelf-life testing, and sensory evaluations to validate formulations and product performance.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Marketing, Quality Assurance, Production, and Procurement teams to ensure product feasibility and timely project delivery.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Prepare technical reports, product specifications, and regulatory documents in compliance with food safety and industry standards.
  • Trend Analysis: Stay updated with emerging trends, ingredients, and technologies in the FMCG and food innovation sectors.
  • Supplier Coordination: Evaluate raw materials and liaise with suppliers for ingredient sourcing, quality verification, and cost optimization.
  • Process Optimization: Support production scale-up activities and provide technical assistance during manufacturing trials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in R&D within the FMCG industry (preferably in food, beverage, or health-related products).
  • Proven experience in formulation development, product testing, and process improvement.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, GMP, and quality management systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
