Roadway Engineer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct roadway inspections, including annual pavement mapping, and generate reports with raw data on road conditions, defects, and relevant findings.

Manage and oversee contractors' maintenance activities and implement immediate corrective actions for road defects, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, project specifications, and best practices.

Prepare all necessary documentation related to reporting of routine, corrective, and preventive maintenance of roads

Conduct and attend meetings with maintenance service provider

Recommend continuous improvement to methods and processes

B. Projects Handling

1.    Prepare and review all project-related documents, including engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, bills of quantities, and quality control programs, for approval by supervisors.

2.    Monitor design changes, assess cost impacts, manage project variations, and inspect roadway construction to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and construction methodologies.

3.    Provides support for new projects as assigned from time to time

4.    Check and monitor materials delivery to ensure that only acceptable materials are delivered at site

5.    Prepare contract letters relevant to project implementation

6.    Perform project document processing through compliance to standard document control procedure i.e. preparation of transmittal forms, document receiving, etc.

7.    Assist in the interpretation of drawings and specifications

8.    Prepare and update progress monitoring chart of construction project

9.    Record, monitor, compute, and submit actual daily manpower and equipment capabilities every and during such activity execution daily

1. Assist the survey representative in undertaking field surveys to ensure that measurements accurately reflect the requirements

2. Check and coordinate to other line functions i.e. Lines and Grades, QA/QC Sections etc., any prerequisites before any subsequent work is started;

3. Record and monitor all actual information in accordance with the drawings and specifications for measurement, before, during, and after any work execution

4. Regularly document contractor's execution through daily inspection and taking photographs indicating the design value against actual value

5. Keep regular records of any such of labor, plant, equipment, and materials used and any circumstances that may be relevant to claims or change orders

C. Administrative

1. Oversee the planning, submission, execution, and evaluation of projects from inception to procurement, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and best practices.

2. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to estimate costs, prepare detailed cost plans, and assist with budget control, procurement, and budgeting purposes.

3. Conducts monthly field inspection for asset management

4. Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time

D. Incident Management Support

Provides and performs the incident management procedures as necessary and based on the agreed service quality levels

Coordinates with operations on traffic management during incident management and roadway furniture maintenance activities requiring road closures

E. Customer Handling

Takes action on agreed resolutions of internal and external customer complaints related to roadway furniture maintenance

Conducts site investigation to validate customer complaints and submits reports to the immediate superior

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience
• Good communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
• Ability to work Night Shift schedule
