ABOUT THE ROLE

The Underwriter role is primary responsible for actively underwriting new business and/or renewals of the CHU and Flex product lines, in accordance with company procedures. The role, which is based in our brand-new Manila office with a hybrid model being a split of office and work from home, is responsible for the delivery of the client's underwriting service, embracing, and working within a professional, dynamic, and progressive environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for:


• Consistent delivery of exceptional customer service within agreed workflow timeframes.


• Underwriting new business and renewals.


• Providing quotes in a timely and professional manner (in accordance with company standards).


• Actively underwrite renewals, new business & endorsements in line with your underwriting authority level, as well as broader company procedures and manuals.


• Ensure premium quotations for both renewals and new business are written to the prescribed rate increases and apply the necessary excesses.


• Administer automated underwriting system to ensure a seamless customer experience with our Flex Insurance products.


• Ensure all the properties are classified correctly.


• Analyze the loss ratio and all relevant underwriting information to determine if risk is of an acceptable standard including alternate methodology.


• Monitor and report on loss ratio.


• Arrange surveys and all appropriate documentation required to enable the competent and sound underwriting of risks.


• Ensure efficient, professional, and courteous contact and correspondence with all clients including direct Owners Corporations, brokers, and Strata Managers.


• Report underwriting results to management as required.


• Improve and follow up all implemented risk improvements on a regular basis.


• Ensure all declined risks are referred to the Underwriting Team Leader prior to communicating to client.


• Ensure difficult clients, problem matters, and all issues are handled in accordance with company and branch policy, Insurance Codes and Practices.


• Assist with new business and renewal follow up.


• Assist with data entry if required.


• Monitor existing systems and procedures within CHU and Flex Insurance and provide feedback to management on ways to improve the efficiency, productivity of the business.


• Resolve any conflict issues that arise with clients/agents and colleagues in accordance with company policy, Insurance Codes, practices, and legislation.

A bit about you to be successful in this role, you will possess:


• 6 months in customer service support, Claims/Policy Support/ Property Underwriting or in any or related insurance or financial services and business process outsourcing.


• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.


• Good understanding of quality Service standards.


• High attention to detail and following processes.


• Strong customer focus and drive.


• Strong problem solving and ability to think analytically.


• Strong computer and numeracy skills, with the ability to quickly learn new systems.

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Windows).


• Tier 2 ANZIF Insurance Certificate is preferred.


• Proven Knowledge on the Strata Industry.


• Ability to find a way to deliver a solution.


• Confidence to make decisions.


• The ability to question the status Quo.
