Job Summary

The Head Engineer will lead AFI's engineering and survey team, ensuring the highest quality of technical outputs during the pre-engineering and planning phases of projects.

This role is central to translating complex engineering requirements into feasible, compliant, and cost-effective solutions that support AFI's pre-sales, proposals, and project planning activities.

The Head Engineer will act as a key technical authority within the business, liaising with internal stakeholders, clients, and external partners to ensure all designs and plans are practical, competitive, and aligned with AFI's standards and international best practices.

This role requires close coordination with Sales, Operations, and Project Management teams.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop AFI's engineering team and surveyors in the Philippines.
  • Build a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.

Engineering Oversight

  • Oversee and review all engineering designs, drawings, and technical documentation during pre-engineering and planning.
  • Validate site development, land development, architectural, structural, civil, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical plans to ensure feasibility and compliance with local codes and international standards.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all pre-engineering outputs adhere to AFI standards, building codes, safety regulations, and international best practices.
  • Implement and maintain robust quality assurance processes for engineering deliverables at the design and planning stage.

Technical Guidance

  • Provide expert technical support to the project management, sales, and pre-sales teams in preparing proposals and bids.
  • Recommend optimized design approaches, materials, and systems to improve efficiency, durability, and cost-effectiveness.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, contractors, and project managers to align technical requirements with project planning and client expectations.
  • Support the sales process with strong technical input and innovative solutions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive improvements in design efficiency, system performance, and materials.
  • Introduce innovative engineering methods, software tools, and design practices to enhance AFI's competitive edge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or related field (required).
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the Philippines (or internationally recognized equivalent) preferred.

Key Competencies

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong track record in pre-engineering design validation, technical documentation, and client-facing technical roles.
  • Strong knowledge of civil and structural engineering (essential).
  • Good understanding of plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems (advantageous).
  • Proficiency in engineering design and planning software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, Civil 3D, or equivalent).
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on quality and compliance.
