Laundry-Linen Attendant

Job Summary:

The Linen Attendant is responsible for maintaining a consistent supply of clean, high-quality linens for all areas of the hotel. This role involves managing inventory, sorting, washing, ironing, and distributing linens to ensure guest satisfaction and uphold the hotel's luxury standards.

Job Description:

1. Track and maintain accurate inventory of all linens, including sheets, towels, tablecloths, and clothes

2. Conduct monthly stock checks of all linens and towels, and report to Housekeeping Manager any shortages or missing items

3. Ensure proper storage of linens to prevent damage or contamination

4. Keeping an updated inventory of laundry detergents and sewing kits

5. Ensure the appropriate stock level of linens and towels for the Hotel.

6. Ensure that employees' uniform is always available and ready

7. Restock linens/towels to every pantry for daily use

8. Sort soiled linens according to fabric type, color, and degree of soiling

9. Operate washing machines and dryers, adhering to proper settings and detergent usage

10. Inspect linens for stains or damage and pre-treat as necessary using appropriate procedure

11. Perform minor sewing duties

12. Wash and dry clothes, linen and other textile items

13. Process the guests clothing on the correct equipment / machines using the appropriate chemicals and temperature. Once processed, neatly fold or hang the clothing as requested by the guest on the laundry sheet.

14. Sort employee uniforms for appropriate action like washing, dry cleaning, pressing or sending for repair. Once processed, hangs and transports clean uniforms to linen area.

15. Operates and maintains washer etc.

16. Iron clothes, linens, and textile items using appropriate equipment to remove wrinkles and ensure a crisp, clean appearance

17. Fold clothes, linens, and textile items according to hotel standards for presentation and storage

18. Shakes wet sheets, table linens and napkins prior to ironing in order to spread them out

19. Responsible for feeding washed linens and napkins into ironers or folders or calendar machines

20. Retrieves folded linens and stacks or hangs clean linens as appropriate

21. Operates and maintains folding equipment, presser and iron

22. Distribute clean linens to guest rooms

23. Collect soiled linens from designated areas, ensuring timely removal to prevent buildup

24. Responsible for picking up and delivery of in-house guest laundry.

25. Responsible for delivering all guest items punctually, accurately and in a professional and courteous way

26. Collect laundry bags from guest rooms and ensure that guest name, room number and laundry pieces are listed

27. Count and verify all items collected as per laundry price lists / laundry sheet signed by the guest and note down any discrepancy or damages on the same sheet

28. Report immediately to the superiors in case any valuable items like cash, jewelry, credit cards etc. found in guests cloth pockets

29. Inspect all linens for cleanliness, damage, and proper ironing before distribution

30. Ensure that all linens meet hotel's quality standards

31. Report any issues or concerns to the immediate supervisor

32. Ensure proper care of employees' uniform

33. Initiate request for Housekeeping Laundry/Linen essentials

34. Tracking and perform routine maintenance and repairs on laundry equipment, such as cleaning lint traps and checking water levels

35. Report any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate department

36. Follow all hotel policies and procedures regarding linen handling, hygiene, and safety

37. Anticipate and respond to guest and employee queries, concerns, and complaints about laundry

38. Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times

39. Report any technical problems or deficiencies to the immediate supervisor or maintenance team

40. Responsible in communicating with the outside source laundry, checking all in and out items are in good condition and complete

41. Responsible in checking and sorting laundry bills to be paid before reporting to the manager for approval

42. Assist in other inventories and attend all departmental training as informed and scheduled by the manager

43. Assists with other responsibilities and duties in the absence of other team members or other tasks assigned by the supervisor/manager.

44. Perform other tasks as may be directed by the Housekeeping manager or immediate supervisor from time to time

Job Specifications:

• High school graduate
• At least 1 year of experience in laundry operations or housekeeping is an asset, especially in a hotel environment
• Meticulous in inspecting linens and ensuring quality
• Able to stand, bend, walk, and lift heavy loads for extended periods
• Proficient in operating washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment
• Knowledge of and adherence to hygiene and sanitation standards and cleaning best practices
• Knowledge of fine fabrics
• Can work in shifts , including weekends and holidays
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
• Possess good communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors
