Roles and Responsibilities

As a Senior Designer, you will take ownership of design projects from concept to completion, with responsibility for delivering high-quality SMP designs in compliance with Australian Standards. Your work will include:

  • Creating detailed designs and work with our drafting team to create detailed fabrication drawings for SMP (Structural, Mechanical & Piping) projects.

  • Ensuring compliance with AS 1657, AS 3990, AS 4100 and AS 4140.

  • Producing 3D models, detailed general arrangements, and setout drawings using Autodesk Inventor (preferred).

  • Modelling as-built structures or equipment from 3D Laser Scanning data.

  • Assist in preparing cost and time estimates for design projects.

  • Collaborating closely with engineers, project managers, and other design professionals to ensure accurate and timely project delivery.

  • Mentoring and supporting junior designers/drafters within the team.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 4 years' proven experience in SMP design projects.

  • Proficient in Autodesk Inventor (highly preferable).

  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards (AS 1657, AS 3990, AS 4100 & AS 4140).

  • Demonstrated ability to produce fast and accurate designs with high attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in English.

  • Solid time management and organisational skills, with the ability to deliver to client deadlines and budgets.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a supportive team environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Previous experience on Australian projects is essential.

Desirable (Experience Advantage)

It is highly desirable for you to have experience in at least one of the following;

  • Manufacturing or process plant design.

  • Mechanical and Structural detailed design.

  • Process and Piping design.

  • Concrete design and detailing.

  • Bulk materials handling design.
