Position Summary:
The Director of External Affairs provides strategic leadership in managing and advancing the organization's relationships with government bodies, regulatory agencies, industry associations, NGOs, and other key stakeholders. The role is accountable for shaping and executing high-level public affairs strategies that support business objectives and regulatory compliance, particularly in the land-based and online gaming sectors. The Director plays a critical role in enhancing the company's reputation, influencing policy, and mitigating external risks in a highly regulated industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Lead the development and execution of the organization's external affairs across both land-based and online gaming segments. Provide strategic counsel to executive leadership on regulatory and reputational issues.
- High-Level Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain high-trust relationships with gaming regulators, government officials, and industry partners. Represent the company in consultations, public hearings, and strategic policy discussions.
- Policy Analysis and Risk Intelligence
- Oversee monitoring of political, legislative, and regulatory trends impacting gaming operations. Develop advocacy strategies and risk mitigation plans.
- Communications and Influence
- Supervise development of policy briefs, talking points, and public statements. Act as spokesperson or representative in critical forums.
- Organizational Coordination & Leadership
- Foster collaboration between external affairs and compliance, operations, legal, and marketing teams. Lead and mentor the External Affairs team.
- Governance, Compliance, and Ethics
- Ensure alignment with all local and international gaming laws and industry codes. Promote ethical engagement practices.
- Special Projects & Executive Support
- Lead external affairs components of strategic initiatives. Provide direct advisory support to senior executives during crises or major regulatory developments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Public Affairs, Communications, , Political Science or related fields
- At least 3 years of experience in public policy or government relations, preferably in the gaming or technology sector.
- Proven ability to manage high-performing teams and drive strategic initiatives.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; confident public speaker and negotiator.
- Well-connected within the gaming industry and relevant government agencies.
Work Schedule:
Full-time; Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with flexibility for travel and extended hours related to regulatory engagements, events, or strategic meetings.
