Job Overview:

The Material Sourcing Manager plays a pivotal role in driving Engineering and Supply Chain collaboration during product development.

This critical position ensures that material sourcing strategies implemented during NPI are fully aligned with Global Commodity Management direction.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Cost Optimization: Drive Bill of Material cost optimization as early as the RFQ stage, ensuring effective supply chain management.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with Cost Management to drive savings that support new business and protect market share during RFQs by providing accurate cost projections and match kit analyses.
  • Sourcing Excellence: Support DFX reviews by providing early input on material readiness, supply risk, part availability, and cost targets – ensuring design decisions consider both technical and supply chain perspectives.
  • Supply Chain Alignment: Align BOM and material readiness across all NPI phases by engaging with key stakeholders:
    • NPI Sourcing and Buyers – Ensure quote readiness, qualification documents, sample availability, and prototype build material scheduling.
    • GCM Strategy Alignment – Minimize use of legacy or EOL parts, enhance PML and multisource penetration, and arrange technology roadshows.
    • GCM and SQE – Coordinate new supplier onboarding and ensure stakeholder alignment and approvals before use.
  • Gate Deliverables: Review and approve gate deliverables during key NPI milestones.
  • Risk Management: Lead MRMR reviews to monitor part readiness and material risks, track PML and multisource penetration, and provide alternate solutions and risk mitigation plans.
  • Reporting: Identify material and supply-related risks early, escalate to the appropriate stakeholders, and follow through until resolution. Prepare and submit monthly reports covering risk flags, cost-saving activities, and readiness metrics.
