This role involves taking care of day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial record-keeping. As a bookkeeper, you will be responsible for managing accounts, processing invoices, and maintaining financial ledgers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:- Proven experience (2+ years) in bookkeeping using Xero.
- Proficiency with Dext (or similar receipt-capturing tools).
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping workflows: invoicing, reconciliation, tracking expenses, and job costing.
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail in both financial and admin tasks.
- Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team where adaptability is key.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day bookkeeping in Xero: reconciling accounts, processing invoices, managing expenses, and handling general ledger entries.
- Using Dext to capture, code, and file supplier receipts and invoices; ensuring digital documents are organized and audit-ready.
- Processing and tracking accounts payable and receivable; preparing supplier payments and chasing incoming payments as needed.
- Collaborating with the builder/director to support accurate job costing: allocating materials, labour, and overhead to relevant projects.
- Reconciling bank and credit card statements regularly.
- Preparing monthly management reports: P&L, cash-flow statements, project cost summaries.
- Assisting with BAS (Business Activity Statement) preparation and liaising with external accountants for GST and tax matters.
- Providing ad-hoc admin support—preparing reports, compiling project documents, and assisting with marketing efforts.
