Payroll Officer Role Overview
Job DescriptionThis role involves managing and processing payroll for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of pay runs. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling weekly and fortnightly pay cycles, maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, and performing back-end payroll filing tasks.
- Process payroll for multiple entities to ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries, overtime, and allowances.
- Maintain compliance with Australian award standards, Fair Work regulations, and other relevant legislation.
- Perform back-end payroll filing tasks to ensure accurate storage of payroll records.
Additionally, the Payroll Officer will be required to enter payroll data into the system, prepare and process employee payments, maintain records of payroll transactions, and generate reports as needed. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential in this role, as well as the ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Prior experience as a Payroll Officer or in a similar role managing multiple pay runs.
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including award interpretation.
- Experience working with payroll software and systems (e.g., MYOB, Xero, ADP, SAP).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve payroll discrepancies.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to work accurately under pressure. Experience working in mining, industrial manufacturing, or similar industries is an advantage.
