Job Description

This role involves leading the design, deployment and maintenance of observability solutions that align with IT strategy and vision.

You will work closely with DevOps and observability engineers to ensure seamless integration of observability tools into delivery pipelines and application codebases.

Effective communication is key in this role as you will need to collaborate with governance streams to ensure adherence to process, quality and architectural design.

As a Senior DevOps Observability Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering against both functional and non-functional requirements, taking ownership and accountability for development of key features and driving them to completion.

You will also participate in incident management to ensure production defects are rectified based on their criticality and severity, and guide and support teams in implementation and adherence to change control principles.

Additionally, you will use your technical expertise to collaborate with architecture to guide software solutions and ensure inter-project dependencies and project risks are understood and managed.


Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Understanding of observability pillars and knowledge of tools in this area such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch and CloudWatch.

  • Hands-on experience in deploying and managing AWS resources.

  • Demonstrate current experience of hands-on full-stack software engineering using either Java or Microsoft c#, Typescript, JavaScript and scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell.

  • Experience of application lifecycle management tools and technologies such as source code management; Git, DevOps platforms; Gitlab, TeamCity, Sonatype Nexus.

  • Experience of monitoring applications as well as infrastructure in both non-production and production systems.
