Job Description

As part of our talented team of DevOps practitioners, you will be instrumental in delivering business-critical software for our internal broking division and external customer base. Your focus will be on integrating OpenTelemetry into software applications and building/maintaining our Observability Platform as part of DevOps Tooling and Capabilities.

This role will significantly steer the future direction of Observability, offering observability as code in delivery pipelines, setting standards/guardrails for all teams/organisation, and building world-class Observability.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Work closely with Observability & DevOps Engineers to design/build/deploy and maintain an Observability solution aligning to IT strategy/vision and strategic DevOps practices.
  2. Integrate Observability solution into delivery pipelines and application codebase across TPICAP application teams.
  3. Communicate with governance streams to ensure adherence to process, quality, and architectural design.
  4. Deliver against functional/non-functional requirements.
  5. Take ownership/accountability for development of key features and drive to completion.
  6. Communicate progress effectively and raise impediments early to minimise impact on delivery.
  7. Participate in incident management to rectify production defects based on criticality/severity and standard.
  8. Guide/support team in implementation/adherence to Change Control principles.
  9. Ensure inter-project dependencies/projects risks are understood/managed.
  10. Collaborate with architecture to guide software solutions using technical expertise.
Essential Skills

Hands-on experience:

  • Understanding of Observability pillars and knowledge of tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch, and CloudWatch.
  • Deploying/managing AWS resources.
  • Full-Stack Software Engineering using Java, C#, Typescript, JavaScript, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Application Lifecycle Management Tools like Source Code Management (git), DevOps platforms (Gitlab, TeamCity, Sonatype Nexus).
  • Monitoring applications/infrastructure in non-production/production systems.
Desirable Skills

Experience in:

  • Enterprise level Monitoring tools.
  • OpenTelemetry - instrumentation/use of OTEL solutions.
  • APM Experience - AppDynamics, DataDog, Dynatrace.
  • AWS/OpenSearch/Elastic, ingestion tooling Crbl.
  • Grafana & Prometheus.
  • Cloud Technologies/Azure/GCP etc.
  • Dev(Sec)Ops automation/minimise delivery times Development to Production (CICD).
  • Containerization to aid deployability/testing/loose coupling.
  • Agile exponent to speed up delivery/reduce risk/maximize user value.
  • Broking Trading business domain.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
