The role of an Instructional Designer is to create engaging and effective learning activities and compelling course content.

This involves working with subject matter experts to identify required learning outcomes and target learner populations.

The designer will apply best practices in learning technologies and instructional design to develop courses that meet the needs of learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply best practices in learning technologies and instructional design
  • Work with subject matter experts to identify required learning outcomes and target learner populations
  • Determine the most appropriate delivery mechanisms (e-learning, virtual classroom, face-to-face etc.)
  • Create content that matches instructional end goals
  • Provide learner interactivity (exercises, activities etc.) that enhance the learning process and learner experience
  • Develop supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
  • Assess the effectiveness of the course and attainment of knowledge and other specified learner outcomes
Requirements:
  • In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Lesson and curriculum planning skills
  • Working knowledge of multiple web design technologies and multi-media formats
  • Visual design skills
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts
  • BA or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar relevant field
  • Certification in Instructional Design (preferred)
