Telecommunications Support Specialist

The ideal candidate will provide system-level pre-sales and post-sales technical support for customers. This involves remote or on-site testing, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues related to fiber optic transport systems and associated technologies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing 24/7 technical support via telephone or online.
  • Managing technical support cases/tickets from start to finish.
  • Attending maintenance windows as required.
  • Accepting on-call duties outside of normal business hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Additionally, the successful candidate will perform the following tasks:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to manage customer issues.
  • Work with Quality Assurance, Design, Product Management, Technical Publications, and Training to gather customer feedback.
  • Contribute to knowledgebase (KCS) articles.
  • Help train newly hired technical support engineers.
  • Perform other duties related to the role as assigned.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as electronics, communication engineering, or computer science.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications, preferably in a technical support role.
  • Expertise in operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber optic transport systems and associated technologies.
  • Knowledge of OTN, SONET/SDH/DWDM, Carrier Ethernet, and data communications.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work from broad guidelines with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex problems.
