Job Title

The Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager is a key member of the team responsible for building and sustaining a proactive culture that prioritizes safety, health, and environmental well-being. This role requires a strong leader who can provide functional leadership, ensure effective governance and programs, and provide oversight and advisory services to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Manage a team by monitoring work performance, supporting development, motivating and allocating resources to effectively implement safety, health, and environmental plans and programs.
  • Develop and evaluate initiatives and other competency programs to ensure their adequacy, suitability, and effectiveness.
  • Enforce safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations by giving advice and recommendations to management and other teams.
  • Establish and implement safety, health, and environmental plans and programs in compliance with regulatory requirements and in alignment with organizational goals in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Provide guidance and advisory services related to the implementation of safety, health, and environmental programs, management of safety committees, and development of policies and procedures.
  • Review and evaluate safety, health, and environmental programs through audits, verification, and other assessment tools to adapt to changing regulations and company needs, ensure their effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with mandated safety, health, and environmental regulatory requirements through regular review, engagement with regulators, and collaboration with other teams in order to complete and/or submit applications and/or compliance plans.
  • Network and represent the organization externally as a safety officer or pollution control officer and stay updated on changing regulations and industry best practices.
  • Review recommendations for corrective measures to address occupational health, safety, and environmental issues or concerns.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of a bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental, or Sanitary Engineering.
  • Must be a Registered Engineer.
  • With at least 7 years of experience in safety, health, and environment (SHE) or a related field.
  • With a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Has led at least one SHE-related project.
  • Must be able to attain Safety Officer and Pollution Control Officer accreditation within one year of appointment.
