Accounts Payable Officer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work independently with minimal supervision to manage and process accounts payable tasks efficiently.
  • Effectively check, respond to, and ensure all accounts emails are attended to promptly.
  • Process creditor invoices accurately and in a timely manner for payment.
  • Reconcile Xero transactions daily to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Monitor accounts to guarantee payments are up-to-date and follow up on outstanding invoices.
  • Prepare A/P payment runs and collect payments for Accounts Receivable.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of all invoices processed and paid.
  • Generate sales invoices in xero.
  • Complete GL reconciliations, vendor statement reconciliations & end of month journals as needed.
  • Address AP and account-related calls and applications promptly.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of payments.
  • Prepare and send remittance and reconciliations in accordance with QBCC requirements.
  • Continuously improve the payment process to enhance efficiency.
  • Assist with month-end closing and financial reporting as required.
  • Evaluate and adhere to company policies and relevant accounting regulations.
Requirements:

Qualifications and Skills Required:

Essential Requirements (Must):

  • Proficiency in Xero accounting and payroll software.
  • A minimum of 6 years' experience in payroll management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to interact effectively with stakeholders.

Desirable Qualities (Preferred):

  • Prior experience in the construction industry, particularly in payroll or finance roles.
  • Familiarity with construction retention processes, including compliance, documentation, and payment release procedures.
