Job Description

A Patient Services Coordinator is responsible for a variety of activities related to patient inquiries and concerns. Their primary tasks include understanding what a patient needs by interviewing them and listening to their concerns.

They then ensure that the patient gets those needs met by coordinating information available from and to consumers, family members, medical personnel, and administrative staff. They must be familiar with the policies and procedures at their facilities, the medical and community resources available, and medical regulations, so they can help patients' healthcare treatment.

Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming calls according to procedure and departmental standards.
  • Assist patients in their inquiries and concerns.
  • Collect patients' outstanding balances.
  • Assist third-party entities, e.g., insurance, in their queries regarding patients' accounts.
  • Place outbound collection calls according to procedure and departmental standards.
  • Assist patients in their billing inquiries and concerns.
  • Ensure HIPAA guidelines are respected by safeguarding protected health information in the capacity of the position's duties and responsibilities.
  • Be a team player and supportive of department and company goals and policies.
  • Be reliable and punctual by maintaining a good attendance record and arriving on time for work and breaks.
  • Other related duties may be assigned from time to time.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Preferably a college graduate or at least 2 years in college.
  • Degrees and courses related to the medical field are a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Able to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Proficient in the use of email.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Organized, able to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Team player supportive of department and company goals and policies.
  • Must be flexible with schedule.
  • At least 1 year call center experience related to medical accounts and programs is a plus.
