Director of Services Role Overview

The Director of Services role is a leadership position responsible for managing housekeeping functions and staff to ensure property guest rooms, public spaces, and employee areas are clean and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain effective communication with the Front Office team to address operational issues.
  • Manage work assignments, inventory stock, and ensure adequate supplies.
  • Enforce operating standards for cleaning guestrooms, public spaces, and employee areas.
  • Implement and maintain an inspection program to ensure compliance with housekeeping policies and procedures.
Cost Management
  • Supervise budgeting and ordering of guestroom and cleaning supplies.
  • Monitor departmental costs and controllable expenses to achieve budgeted goals.
  • Review operating statements, budget worksheets, and payroll progress reports to drive financial results.
Guest Service Excellence
  • Respond effectively to guest problems and complaints.
  • Incorporate guest satisfaction into departmental meetings and encourage continuous improvement.
  • Empower employees to provide excellent customer service.
  • Develop goals and expectations for direct report managers.
Human Resources Activities
  • Administer property policies fairly and consistently.
  • Ensure disciplinary procedures and documentation are completed according to SOPs/LSOPs.
  • Establish goals and objectives for all areas of responsibility.
  • Interview and hire management and hourly employees with the appropriate skills.
