Financial Statement Specialist

Maintain and control the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization by applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) while providing accurate and timely information.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and reconcile client accounts to ensure all transactions have cleared and are properly funded.
- Perform reconciliations of client account records to identify and resolve discrepancies between the claim system and the financial system.
- Closely work with IT, Operations, and Finance Department managers and analysts to implement process changes or corrections involving IT or Operations resources.
- Resolve reporting discrepancies with client contacts.
- Analyze general ledger accounts and subledger detail to identify discrepancies and act to resolve any discrepancies found in the recording of financial transactions.
- Identify and troubleshoot problems with cash accounting and book to bank processing issues.
- Assist in identifying client payments and ensuring correct accounts receivable application.
- Recommend accounting process improvements and meet with finance analysts to implement them.
- Compile and distribute banking activity reports for management.
- Produce management reports summarizing reconciled transactions.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- One or more years of experience in Accounting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and analytical skills are necessary.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Independent problem solver with sound reasoning ability.
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
- Basic word processing knowledge and spreadsheet knowledge are preferred.
