Medical Coding Educator

The Medical Coding Educator is responsible for delivering medical coding education to new and existing medical coders.

Responsibilities
  • Develops comprehensive training modules for medical coding and billing, focusing on ICD 10 CM, CPT, E/M coding, and Revenue Cycle Management.
  • Creates and updates curriculum and training syllabus related to coding and billing training programs.
  • Stays current with ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
  • Updates existing training materials and develops new ones as needed.
  • Designs and delivers inpatient medical coding exercises, assessments, and qualifying examinations.
  • Consolidates coder scores from quizzes, exams, and assessments and presents data during regular meetings.
  • Maintains certifications of the staff by providing continuing education units.
  • Provides training and review for onboarding coders and refresher training for tenured coders.
  • Disseminates changes and updates in guidelines and rules.
  • Collaborates with workgroups to resolve issues impacting internal and external customers.
  • Possesses knowledge of and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Participates in monthly calibration training and creates assessments to check learnings.
  • Consolidates coder scores from calibration assessment and presents data to operations.
  • Assists QA Supervisor and QATM with account launch and provides support for TNA, RCA, and educational note creation for QA Team.
  • Audits QA staff to monitor their respective coding and auditing accuracy.
