Construction Estimator Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate and competitive bids for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze architectural and engineering drawings, project plans, and specifications to create detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor work.
  • Study historical data and pricing trends to enhance the accuracy of estimates.
  • Evaluate bids from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Maintain a database of unit costs, productivity rates, and supplier pricing.
  • Participate in bid reviews and risk analysis discussions.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure smooth transitions of awarded projects into production.
  • Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving strategies.
  • Ensure accurate records and documentation for all estimates.
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing, lead times, and product availability.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Construction Estimator (3+ years preferred).
  • Familiarity with estimating in residential, commercial, civil, or industrial construction.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating).
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Able to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documents.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
