Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Estimator to join our furniture company. The role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for furniture products, projects, and custom orders by analyzing materials, labor, production processes, and overhead expenses. The Cost Estimator will play a key role in ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review design drawings, specifications, and project requirements to prepare accurate cost estimates.
  • Calculate costs of raw materials, hardware, finishes, upholstery, and other furniture components.
  • Assess labor requirements for production, assembly, and installation.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to obtain quotations and update pricing databases.
  • Evaluate production methods and suggest cost-effective alternatives.
  • Prepare detailed costing sheets, budgets, and bid proposals for clients and management.
  • Collaborate with design, sales, and production teams to align cost estimates with project goals.
  • Monitor actual production costs vs. estimates and provide variance analysis.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of market pricing trends, materials, and industry standards.
  • Support management in pricing strategies and profitability analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Cost Estimator, preferably in the furniture, manufacturing, or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of furniture production processes, materials, and finishing techniques.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and costing/ERP software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
