Senior Software Engineer Position

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our development team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and expanding our systems to deliver exceptional service experience for all customers.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Development Team Leader, with support from the Project Manager and the wider Development team. Your team is responsible for developing new systems as well as maintenance, troubleshooting and debugging of legacy code.

An essential aspect of this role is the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand needs and quickly translate those into functional systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and enhancing existing systems with new functionality.
  • Investigating and resolving reported issues.
  • Guiding maintenance and design of legacy and database systems/applications.
  • Developing test cases and testing of code developed by yourself and others.
  • Providing support to the wider development team.
  • Communicating with internal stakeholders to accurately scope and design system requirements.
  • Maintaining documentation for internal systems, APIs, and databases.

Experience & Technical Skills

A strong understanding of PHP, MySQL, GitHub, Laravel framework, SQL queries, and database design is highly valued. Additionally, experience with tools like MAMP, Laravel, and consuming/publishing APIs is beneficial.

Key Selection Criteria

To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate strong English language skills, willingness to work in Melbourne hours, Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field, 5+ years' experience in a similar role, and extensive experience in database design and management.
