Job Description:

A Restaurant Manager plays a crucial role in the success of any dining establishment. This position requires a blend of operational expertise, managerial skills, and a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Staff Management: Directly oversee and manage a team of bartenders, servers, and bar backs, including scheduling, training, performance evaluations, and addressing disciplinary issues.
  • Operational Efficiency: Maintain smooth restaurant operations by coordinating with kitchen staff, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Customer Service: Lead the team to exceed guest expectations by delivering exceptional service, resolving complaints promptly, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, place orders, and ensure proper storage and rotation of all inventory to prevent shortages or waste.
  • Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene standards, and taste food and beverages to maintain consistent quality.
  • Financial Management: Handle cash transactions, manage petty cash, and maintain accurate records of all financial transactions.
  • Marketing and Sales: Assist with implementing marketing and sales strategies to drive revenue and increase customer engagement.
  • Training and Development: Provide regular training to staff to enhance their skills and knowledge, ensuring they meet required standards of service.
  • Recruitment and Selection: Participate in recruitment and selection process for new staff, ensuring adherence to company procedures.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant health and safety legislation, alcohol service regulations, and company policies.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is usually required, while a degree or diploma in hospitality management or a related field is often preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in a supervisory role within the food and beverage industry is essential, with 2-3 years of experience in a similar position being common.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of food and beverage operations, including inventory management, customer service, food safety, and sanitation practices is crucial.
  • Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership skills are essential to manage and motivate a team effectively, including delegating tasks, providing guidance and training, and resolving conflicts.
  • Customer Service: Focus on customer satisfaction and creating a welcoming dining experience for guests, involving handling complaints, timely service, and maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle stress effectively, and make quick decisions when necessary is crucial.
  • Alcohol Service Certification: In many jurisdictions, a supervisor may be required to have alcohol service certification or be responsible for ensuring that all staff members serving alcohol have the necessary certification.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and move around the establishment quickly is often required.
