Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to join our team as a Principal Energy Specialist. In this role, you will play a critical part in shaping ADB's energy sector policy and contributing to the achievement of its mission.

About the Team

The Energy Sector Office (ENE) is responsible for providing technical assistance and capacity building to developing member country governments in the energy sector. Our team works closely with government officials, private sector entities, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for collaboration and investment in the energy sector.

Your Responsibilities

As a Principal Energy Specialist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing Energy Policies and Strategies: Develop and implement energy policies and strategies that support ADB's mission to alleviate poverty and promote economic growth.
  • Providing Technical Assistance and Capacity Building: Provide technical assistance and capacity building to developing member country governments to enhance their energy sector capabilities.
  • Engaging with Private Sector Entities: Engage with private sector entities to identify opportunities for collaboration and investment in the energy sector.
  • Identifying and Developing Knowledge: Identify and develop knowledge in new emerging areas, and disseminate best practices and lessons learned to stakeholders.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in engineering, economics, finance, business administration, or related fields;
  • At least 12 years of relevant professional experience in the energy sector, with a solid understanding of the challenges faced by ADB's developing member countries;
  • Credible expertise within a specific area of ADB's operations, with recognized ability to lead projects;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • International experience working in several countries.
