Senior Financial Operations Manager

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Operations Manager to lead our financial operations team. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial operations, including onboarding and cleanup projects, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring that financial operations remain robust and reliable.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and Ensure Quality: Review and ensure the quality of junior staff outputs to maintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Lead AP and AR Processes: Lead AP and AR processes, including invoice preparation, approval flows, and reconciliation to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Manage Onboarding Workflows: Manage onboarding and cleanup workflows for new client accounts, ensuring seamless integration into our financial systems.
  • Maintain SOPs: Maintain and enhance standard operating procedures (SOPs), checklists, and process documentation to ensure consistency and efficiency across all teams.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal standards by staying up-to-date with regulatory changes and implementing necessary updates to our financial processes.
  • Train and Coach Junior Staff: Train and coach junior staff members, serving as an escalation contact and providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Manage Multiple Clients: Effectively manage multiple clients and meet all deadlines for month-end close, prioritizing tasks and managing competing demands to deliver results.
  • Collaborate with Pod Leads: Collaborate with pod leads to execute onboarding plans and ensure seamless integration into our financial systems.
  • Communicate Proficiently: Communicate proficiently via email and Slack using alias accounts, ensuring clear and concise communication with all stakeholders.

Competencies and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a leadership role.
  • US GAAP Knowledge: Deep understanding of US GAAP, full-cycle bookkeeping, and financial cleanup principles.
  • Software Skills: Experience with QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms, with ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Leadership Capability: Strong leadership capability, with excellent mentoring and coaching skills.
  • SOP Creation: Track record of creating or refining SOPs and efficient workflows, with ability to implement process improvements.
  • Analytical and Communication Skills: Excellent organizational, analytical, and written communication skills, with ability to distill complex financial information into actionable insights.
