Financial Controller Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Controller to support our growing construction business in Melbourne. The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping experience, solid knowledge of Xero, and an understanding of the unique financial requirements of the construction industry in Australia.

This role is crucial in ensuring accurate financial records and smooth day-to-day accounting operations. Our team is looking for someone with excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily financial transactions and data entry using Xero, processing invoices, receipts, supplier payments, and subcontractor claims, reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, and ledgers, and preparing and lodging BAS, payroll, and superannuation contributions.

In addition, they will track project expenses and assist with job costing, maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, and support month-end and year-end financial reporting.

To be considered for this position, you should have proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in the construction industry, proficiency in Xero and related accounting tools, strong knowledge of Australian accounting practices, GST, and BAS, and experience in handling payroll and superannuation.

You should also possess excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
