Job Title: Tax Accountant

The successful candidate will have responsibility for carrying out a range of accounting tasks. These include processing tax returns, coordinating document collection, bookkeeping and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tax Returns:
    • Prepare personal and business tax returns using industry standard software.
    • Use pre-defined templates to auto-populate forms such as M-1 reconciliations and other documentation.
  • Client Liaison:
    • Make contact with clients to obtain required information or documents.
  • Research and Planning:
    • Undertake independent research into necessary laws prior to submitting returns.
    • Determine tax liability, salary requirements and payroll liabilities.
  • Correspondence and Bookkeeping:
    • Handle correspondence from the IRS and state agencies, including teleconferences and tasks such as payment plan paperwork and State registrations.
    • Perform external bookkeeping, adjusting balance sheets, handling year-end adjustments and providing support for QuickBooks.
  • Review and Adherence:
    • Review monthly and quarterly bookkeeping and update payroll lists.
    • Ensure adherence to firm policies and procedures, work within established budgets and enter time spent on tasks daily.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance-related field.
    • Proficient in tax and accounting software, including Microsoft Word, Excel and QuickBooks.
    • Licensed as a certified public accountant is advantageous.
