Job Title: Patient Service Representative
About the RoleThis is a dynamic position in our healthcare team, responsible for delivering exceptional patient care and support.
- This role involves providing top-notch customer service to patients via phone calls, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and maintaining accurate patient records within our electronic health record system.
- Respond promptly and professionally to caller inquiries, addressing their needs with empathy and efficiency.
- Schedule primary care appointments, including annual exams, chronic care follow-ups, acute visits, and preventive screenings, ensuring timely and effective care delivery.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, including co-pays, deductibles, and network status, guaranteeing seamless care coordination.
- Maintain and update patient records accurately in our electronic health record system, upholding data integrity and security standards.
- Assist patients with portal setup and troubleshooting, ensuring they have secure access to their medical information.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and timely care delivery, fostering a cohesive and efficient work environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding test results, referrals, and follow-up instructions, adhering to practice policies and guidelines.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in family medicine or internal medicine, with a strong understanding of primary care visit types, referral processes, and insurance requirements.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems, including scheduling, documentation, and patient communication features, such as Athena EHR.
- Strong knowledge of patient communication protocols, including greeting callers professionally, responding to inquiries, and addressing patient concerns.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of productivity in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities.
