Serving as a Senior Accountant with extensive experience in US non-profit accounting, this role requires expertise in financial reporting, close processes, audits, and compliance. The position is remote and part-time, with responsibilities spanning various financial aspects.

Responsibilities
  • Record, verify, consolidate, and enter transactions to ensure the integrity of accounting information.
  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
  • Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close responsibilities, ensuring team members stay on track during close.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to optimize processes and efficiency.
  • Ensure deadlines and controls are met in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Manage deliverables to external auditors on annual audits and quarterly reviews.
  • Lead internal audit engagements.
  • Analyze and schedule general ledger accounts for external audits.
  • Comply with legal requirements to avoid legal challenges.
  • Secure financial information through database backups.
  • Protect the organization's financial information.
  • Assist with month-end close and other projects as needed.
  • Interact with various management levels and peers.
  • Plan, schedule, and organize work independently to complete tasks within designated timelines.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and over seven years of experience in finance or accounting.
  • Extensive experience in US non-profit accounting, including reporting and compliance (tax).
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Certified Public Accountant is a plus.
  • Experience in a Big 4 firm is a plus.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Experience developing financial reports and metrics.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects across an organization.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
