Software Solutions Expert for Embedded Linux Systems

This role demands a resourceful and articulate professional who can deliver solutions across PC and IoT technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement optimal Ubuntu integration for the latest hardware platforms and software stacks.
  • Collaborate with partners to deliver a superior, optimised Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
  • Take a holistic approach to the Ubuntu experience on partner platforms, providing inputs on technical plans, testing strategy, quality metrics.
  • Participate as technical lead on complex customer engagements involving complete system architectures from cloud to edge.
  • Assist customers in integrating their apps, SDKs, building device OS images, optimising applications with Ubuntu Core, Desktop and Server.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience with Linux packaging (Debian, RPM, Yocto)
  • Background in Computer Science or STEM field
  • Experience working with open source communities and licences
  • Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages
  • Ability to work in a globally distributed team through self-discipline and self-motivation
Desirable Skills:
  • Knowledge of graphics stacks
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DHCP, HTTP/REST)
  • Basic knowledge of security best practices in IoT or server environments
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking experience
  • IoT / Embedded experience – from board and SoC, BMCs, bootloaders and firmware to OS, through apps and services
