Job Overview

The Assistant Payroll and Benefits Manager position at Everise is a critical role that oversees all payroll processes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This includes managing multi-state payroll, disbursement of garnishments, benefits, and taxes consistent with wage and hour laws.

The successful candidate will work closely with finance/accounting, human resources, and company employees to disseminate payroll information accurately and on schedule. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing day-to-day payroll operations for multiple states, including disbursement of garnishments, benefits, and taxes in accordance with applicable laws.
  2. Partnering with accounting to ensure timely funding of payroll outputs.
  3. Maintaining adherence to governmental reporting and regulations, as well as implementing sound control processes to protect company assets.
  4. Overseeing payroll tax functions and signing off on quarterly and annual tax filings.
  5. Providing leadership and coaching to the payroll team to optimize output.
  6. Developing process maps and documentation regarding payroll processes and implementing necessary controls.
Key Responsibilities

Additional key responsibilities include:

  1. Overseeing payroll activities related to account reconciliation, monthly variance analysis, payroll accruals, and journal entry review.
  2. Maintaining strong relationships with HR and Accounting/Finance departments to review cross-departmental impacts, strategy, and data sharing.
  3. Recommending and implementing changes leading to best-practices operations.
  4. Setting a tone of collaboration among the payroll team, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to provide high-level customer service.
  5. Managing preparation of relevant payroll reports for Senior Management, Human Resources, and Finance departments.
  6. Handling HCM, Timekeeping, and Absence module updates in Workday and resolving issues related to Workday functionalities.
  7. Auditing and reviewing payroll invoices for accuracy.
