Accounting Specialist Job Description

The Accounting Specialist position is a vital role in the Finance department, reporting to the Senior Accounting Specialist.

This key member of the team supports monthly and annual reporting processes, performs routine controller tasks, assists with regulatory filings and audits, and contributes to accurate financial operations through collaboration and data analysis.

Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing journal entries, maintaining general ledger accounts in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes for timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Financial Analysis: Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Controller Functions: Perform routine controller functions, including account reconciliations, variance analysis, and internal controls monitoring.
  • Accounts Payable: Support AP processes, including invoice review, coordination with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely payments.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Assist with regulatory compliance and filings, including state and international tax filings, transfer pricing documentation, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Internal and External Audits: Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and ensuring timely delivery of requested documentation.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process, including data collection, variance tracking, and preparation of supporting schedules.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management.
  • Experience and technical proficiency with NetSuite is an asset.
  • 2-3 years of related work experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Responsible, detail-oriented, team player.
