Overview

The Junior Accountant is responsible for assisting with the preparation of financial statements, maintaining and updating financial records, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role involves supporting the accounting team in day-to-day financial operations and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • General Ledger Maintenance: Record daily financial transactions, including journal entries, invoices, and payments.
  • Assist in the reconciliation of bank statements and other accounts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Help in the analysis of financial data to identify trends and discrepancies.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payment of bills.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on overdue accounts.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Compliance and Auditing: Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant regulations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Data Management: Maintain and update financial records and databases.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy in all financial documents and reports.
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the accounting department as needed.
  • Assist with special projects and other tasks assigned by the senior accountant or financial manager.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience (internships or part-time work acceptable).
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Experience with financial statement preparation.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance.

  • Occasional overtime may be required during peak financial periods.
