We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Records Specialist to join our team.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing medical records, assisting medical providers during appointments, and transcribing medical history. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare case files and Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) by gathering relevant medical information.
  • Review and bookmark medical records to create a synopsis answering medical opinion questions based on the veteran's medical history.
  • Remotely assist medical providers during scheduled appointments of veterans by accessing, navigating, and preparing different apps in the medical provider's computer in the exam room prior to the appointment.
  • Remotely interview veterans via video or telephone conference platform, transcribe their medical history, document physical examination findings, and complete DBQ spreadsheets after each appointment.
  • Meet with medical providers to discuss assigned cases, determine final diagnoses per DBQ, and obtain approval for medical opinions.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) and an active Professional Registered Nurse (PHRN) license.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively assist veterans, medical providers, and colleagues.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility in adjusting work schedules as needed.
  • Accountability for all assigned cases.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
