Property Accountant Role

Our organization is seeking a highly skilled Property Accountant with extensive experience in managing financial operations for short-term rental properties. The ideal candidate will be responsible for comprehensive accounting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance across multiple platforms such as Airbnb, Vrbo, and other vacation rental channels.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Managing daily accounting operations for multiple short-term rental properties.
  • Reconciling bank accounts, merchant accounts, and booking platform payouts.
  • Tracking income, occupancy taxes, fees, and commissions from various rental platforms.
  • Preparing monthly financial statements and cash flow reports.
  • Coordinating with property managers or hosts regarding budget adherence and expense tracking.
  • Managing accounts payable/receivable and ensuring timely payments to vendors.
  • Maintaining accurate records for audits and tax filings, including transient occupancy tax (TOT) or similar.
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning specific to seasonal rental cycles.

Key qualifications for this position include:

  • Accounting experience, with at least 1 year in short-term rental or hospitality industry.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Excel; experience with short-term rental tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple properties/accounts.
