Technical Lead for Software Operations Transformation

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead to spearhead our software operations transformation initiative. This is a unique opportunity to lead and inspire a regional software engineering team in developing and delivering cutting-edge infrastructure-as-code solutions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the adoption of model-driven operations, enabling true efficiency in bare-metal operations for high-performance computing, private cloud, data lakes, AI/ML, and analytics. This requires strong technical leadership, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a passion for innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Python engineers working remotely in global locations
  • Hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development
  • Contribute directly to code development, ensuring sound engineering principles
  • Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering and operations teams
  • Coordinate with management and internal/external stakeholders or customers
  • Advocate for modern, agile software development practices
  • Develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices
  • Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values
  • Participate actively in the leadership team, collaborating with other leaders

Requirements:

  • Loves developing and growing people, with a track record of doing so
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about agile software development
  • Experienced in leading, coaching, and mentoring software developers - especially Python ones
  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts & technologies
  • Comfortable administrating Linux servers, including storage and networking
  • Hands-on experience with software automation
  • Organized and able to deliver high-quality software in a timely manner
  • A lifelong learner

Bonus Points:

  • University degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field
  • Thorough understanding of modern infrastructure, including OpenStack or Kubernetes
  • Experience in operations as well as software development
  • Familiarity with challenges of large-scale, multi-cloud operations
