The Biomedical Equipment Engineering Head is responsible for overseeing the Biomedical Equipment Engineering department and managing the activities of the team in the testing, maintenance and repair of patient care equipment in the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Manage the team of biomedical technologists in implementing programs across the organization, including preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, vendor service maintenance, new product demonstrations, end-user trainings, etc.
- Plan, review and negotiate system-wide service agreements with vendors where appropriate, and recommend replacement of equipment or termination of service level agreements to management when needed.
- Develop and implement clinical engineering practices in the organization, including pre-purchase evaluation of equipment, ownership cost assessment, acceptance testing, and other activities that support equipment acquisition.
Essential Qualifications
- A graduate of any Engineering course, preferably with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering or Mechanical or Electrical.
- At least ten years' relative work experience in a hospital setting as a Biomedical/Clinical Engineer or at least ten years work experience as Equipment Engineer and two to three years work experience in a hospital setting as a Biomedical/Clinical Engineer.
- Strong technical skills in biomedical equipment maintenance and repair, and ability to apply and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, electronics, microprocessor, and computer-based medical equipment.
