Job Overview

The Property Accountant role involves overseeing financial operations for short-term rental properties. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and compliance across multiple platforms.

  • Manage daily accounting tasks for multiple short-term rental properties.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, merchant accounts, and booking platform payouts to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Track income, occupancy taxes, fees, and commissions from various rental platforms to maintain transparency and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and cash flow reports to inform business decisions and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with property managers or hosts to monitor budget adherence and expense tracking, ensuring timely payments to vendors and maintaining accurate records for audits and tax filings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to adapt financial strategies accordingly.
Requirements

To excel as a Property Accountant, you should possess:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in accounting, preferably in the short-term rental or hospitality industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Excel, with expertise in short-term rental tools an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial management.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple properties/accounts with minimal supervision.
