Operational Plant Specialist

About the Job

We are seeking a skilled operational plant specialist to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our generating units.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Optimize generating unit efficiency by monitoring parameters and implementing actions as needed.
  • Perform startup and shutdown of generating units in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure pre-startup activities are completed in accordance with SOPs and OEM standards.
  • Conduct functional tests of plant protections and equipment to ensure functionality and reliability.
  • Assist in commissioning and testing of new and existing equipment.

Key Performance Indicators:
  • Monitor and regulate critical operating parameters.
  • Inspect control, monitoring, and recording instruments.
  • Conduct inspections of major and auxiliary equipment.

Operational Coordination
  • Coordinate with traders and system operators regarding plant capability and load scheduling.
  • Coordinate with steam suppliers regarding steam supply and plant capability.
  • Coordinate with grid operators regarding system status and switching of circuit breakers.

Data Recording, Analysis and Reporting
  • Record hourly readings of critical parameters.
  • Perform trend analysis and recommend actions to optimize plant generation.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports on gross generation and plant operational activities.

Regulatory Compliance
  • Keep accurate records of event details for internal and external reports.
  • Inform regulatory bodies about generating unit status and outage events.
  • Monitor and adjust load dispatch to prevent non-compliance.
