Job Overview

The Payroll Tax Analyst will provide tax expertise to clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires a liaison to act as a point of contact for client inquiries related to employee-level payroll and tax filings.

Responsibilities:
  • Respond to customer inquiries via our CRM tool and resolve issues in accordance with team guidelines.
  • Assess customer health using our defined process to mitigate any risk to the organization.
  • Employee Tax Accuracy: Review and audit payroll commitments to ensure employees are taxed correctly.
  • Payroll Tax Adjustments: Collaborate with customers and internal teams to process accurate payroll tax adjustments.
  • Wage X Rate Audits: Conduct regular audits to verify customers' wages and rates are accurate.
  • Pre-funding Requests for Tax Agencies: Assist customers with timely and accurate pre-funding requests for stock transactions.
  • Monthly and Annual W-4 Form Exemptions: Review W-4 exemptions monthly to perform reasonability checks for customers' employees.
  • Tax and Compliance Changes: Stay up-to-date on tax changes and work with customers to ensure alignment.
  • Quarter/Year-End Balancing: Perform quarterly and year-end audits to balance customers' and employees' taxes, preventing errors.
  • Tax Code Fallouts: Review tax code fallouts weekly, work with customers to register accounts with applicable agencies, and reconcile withheld deposits.
  • Amendment Requests: Work with customers and internal partners to process amendments promptly.
  • W-2/W-2C Forms: Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure timely processing of W-2Cs.
  • Lock-in Letters: Process IRS Form 2808 (Lock-in Letters) promptly to ensure compliance with IRS specifications.
Requirements:
  • Experience: 3+ years required, 5+ years preferred in payroll tax, human resources, or payroll administration.
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor's degree in business, tax, or equivalent experience is desired.
  • Certifications: FPC or CPP certification required or commitment to obtain within two years.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management skills, customer focus, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge: Demonstrated proficiency in auditing techniques, detailed understanding of payroll and tax compliance, and knowledge of applying employee state and local taxation.
